In 2001, I began working with the LGBTQ+ community and mainly saw gay, lesbian, and bisexual clients. The few adult transgender clients I saw primarily needed help exploring how to manage their gender identity in a family, relationship, or culture that was uninformed and unaccepting. With increasing awareness and acceptance, I now mostly see adolescents and adults with varied gender identity concerns. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for those just starting the process of exploring and connecting to their gender identity. I see those at peace with who they are who need support or guidance through the process of coming out or presenting themselves more consistently with their identity. I assist gender non-conforming or non-binary individuals who want to be accepted as they are and may be looking for a place they belong. I support transgender people who are transitioning through HRT, surgery, and adapting to life along the way. I often help loved ones, family members, and spouses better understand and address their needs in relation to LGBTQ+ individuals.
